| PIR is the short form for Passive Infrared sensors, a type of home security alarm, designed to detect heat from a moving organic body, notably human beings. All things, organic or inorganic with temperatures above −459.67°F emit infrared radiation. Homes with security systems are 2-3 times less likely to be broken into than homes without any sort of security system. PIR sensors are not programmed to detect inert bodies, only rapid changes in temperatures like when a person is moving around. |
