| Astronomer Galileo first thought of adding a pendulum to a clock but it was Christian Huygens, who actually constructed such a clock. The first clock was invented by the Chinese, it ran on water and kept time for the emperor only. Small domestic clocks began to be made in the first part of the 15th century. Atomic clocks are accurate to one-billionth of a second. |
