| The MIDI standard was introduced in 1981 to the audio engineering society, but was not published for public view until 1983. Recording studios use MIDI technology almost exclusively. MIDI connectors use 5-pin DIN connectors and are one of the few remaining audio systems to do so. MIDI technology is a communications protocol which transfers sound into digital information, allowing it to be transferred and exchanged between systems. |
