| The first flashlight was used in the early 1890's in New York City. The first rechargeable flashlight was introduced in 1967. There are two main types of light creation: incandescent lights, which use a filament, and Arc lights, which use an electrical current running through a gas. LEDs (light emitting diodes) are used in virtually all electronic equipment, appliances, toys, signs, and many other products. The word lamp is derived from the Greek word lampas, meaning torch. |
