| The first flashlight was used in the early 1890's in New York City. The word lamp is derived from the Greek word lampas, meaning torch. The light created by a glow stick is the result of a chemical reaction called Chemiluminescence. Sir Humphrey Davy of England invented the first electric carbon arc lamp in 1801. LEDs (light emitting diodes) are used in virtually all electronic equipment, appliances, toys, signs, and many other products. |
